The Basketball Tournament (TBT) Returns to Charleston for TBT 2025
CHARLESTON, W.Va., Feb. 26, 2025 – The Basketball Tournament (TBT), the 64-team, $1 million winner-take-all event, announced today that Charleston, West Virginia will serve as one of the regional locations for the 2025 event. Best Virginia, the West Virginia University alumni team, will return as the featured team in the eight-team West Virginia Regional.
Champions Are Made in Charleston
Charleston, W.Va. – Officials at the Charleston Convention & Visitors Bureau are celebrating a hugely successful year. The CVB’s mission, to positively impact the city’s economic and social prosperity by attracting visitors and events, was exceeded in 2024 with events like the USA Cycling Pro Road Championships and West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission High School Championships.
USA Cycling Pro Road Event Creates $4.6 Million Economic Impact
The City of Charleston and the Charleston Convention & Visitors Bureau today announced that the 2024 USA Cycling Pro Road Championships generated an estimated $4.6 million economic impact during its inaugural event May 14-19. Visitor spending was up 22% and the city hosted 2,794 overnight guests. Economic impact numbers are calculated by the CVB using the Destinations International Event Economic Impact Calculator.
Charleston CVB Celebrates Successful 2023Gears Up for Busy 2024
The Charleston Convention & Visitors Bureau celebrated huge successes this year as it continued to establish the city as a major sports tourism destination. By raising its profile with events rights holders and governing bodies in competitive sports, the CVB brought three international sporting events to Charleston in 2023.
