The New River is one of the oldest rivers on the North American continent, with fossil evidence leading geologists to estimate the New River could be as old as 320 million years. The New River Gorge National Park and Preserve is the nation’s 63rd national park. Links to commercial outfitters, trail maps, and basic information are available on the park’s website.
