September’s Sizzling Top 10 Events

September is the perfect time to visit Hip, Historic, Almost Heaven. The weather is warm, the locals are welcoming, and the events are wild and wonderful! Here’s our list of Top 10 events for the month.

This month Charleston welcomes two country music megastars: LeAnn Rimes and Miranda Lambert. Rimes performs with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra Saturday, Sept 21, and Lambert brings her Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour to town Friday, Sept 27. Both concerts take place at the Coliseum & Convention Center.

There are three Mountain Stage performances this month. Can’t choose just one? Go to all three! The Sept 15, Sept 22 and Sept 29 shows take place at the Culture Center and are followed by Post Jam sessions at The Empty Glass.

Celebrate the return of autumn at Dunbar’s Fall Festival, Sept 20-21. Enjoy live music, food vendors, 5K and 10K races, and a kid zone.

Have fun while helping a good cause. Sip & Savor, A Bourbon & Bites Bash at the Clay Center for the Arts & Sciences raises funds for the center’s STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) education programs. The event takes place Friday, Sept 20.

The Fairer Future Gala celebrates the 10th anniversary of Fairness West Virginia’s fight for the Mountain State’s LGBTQ community. The event takes place Saturday, Sept 28 at the Beni Kedem Temple.

Cold beer for cold noses! Kegs 4 K9s is set for Saturday, Sept 7 at Eagle View. This craft beer and music fest raises funds for the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association’s lifesaving mission.

Downtown Streetfest and the Charleston Funeral Parade also are scheduled for Sept 7. Enjoy the Mardi Gras-style parade at 5 pm, followed by live music and craft beer at 5:30 pm at Streetfest.

It’s tailgating season, are your cornhole skills up to the challenge? Watch how the pros play Sept 13-14 at the American Cornhole Organization Charleston Major at the Coliseum.

The Kanawha County Library System brings history to life in the family-friendly performance of Experience R.M.S. Titanic. The Astral Theatre Collective presents this dramatic performance at library branches throughout the county during September.
