I Spy With My Little Eye

While Mortar Man may be an iconic Charleston statue, he’s not exactly statuesque – only two inches tall, to be precise. But you still must look up to see him, since he’s clinging to a brick ledge 12 feet above the sidewalk in a gap in the façade at 108 Capitol Street. Charleston sculptor, Joe Mullins, created the tiny figure from leftover mortar while taking a break atop a scaffold during a patch-up job on the building’s façade.
