Spotlight on Recreation: Run, Row, Ride Capital City Challenge
Run 4.2 miles. Paddle 4.2 miles. Cycle 16.8 miles. It’s all in a day’s work for triathletes. Now in its eighth year, the Capital City Challenge invites individuals and groups of two or three to participate in the event scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 16. And, just in case it wasn’t challenging enough, organizers have added a new Standup Paddleboarding division for 2017.
The scenery couldn’t be better for Charleston’s premiere multi-sport race. Run along beautiful Kanawha Boulevard, paddle past Charleston’s glimmering state Capitol, and then cycle the Boulevard to complete the course.
Not up to a tri challenge but still want to get in a great workout? No worries, there’s a separate 13k race for you.
Row, Run, Ride is family friendly, offering a fun kids event for children 12 and under. Row, Run, Ride also is a charitable event. One-hundred percent of registration fees go to the Counseling Connection’s REACH program, which provides rape education, advocacy, counseling, and healing services to victims of sexual assault.
