Let me introduce to you Time for Three (tf3, for short). Tf3 is a virtuosic trio that consists of 3 classically trained musicians (2 violins and a bass) who create their own arrangements of everything from bluegrass and folk tunes to ingenious mash-ups of hits by the Beatles, Kanye West, Katy Perry, and Justin Timberlake. The result is unlike anything experienced before and you can see them first-hand at the Clay Center this Saturday performing with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra!
They’ve appeared on Dancing with the Stars, NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert, and a recent national broadcast of “Time for Three in Concert” on PBS. Impressive, right? I first caught wind of them when I saw this video going viral on national news and social media. I mean, who whips out their instrument to jam on airplanes?!
I think what makes them so incredible is the high level of mastery that they have for their instruments, which allows them to be super virtuosic and precise while still maintaining on spontaneous energy and presence on stage. That also allows for them to arrange incredible music for themselves as soloists with an orchestra.
Their set list for the concert this weekend includes Eleanor Rigby, Blackbird, Orange Blossom Special, The Devil Went Down to Georgia, and some Bon Iver, just to name a few. Tickets start at only $10 and can be purchased by visiting wvsymphony.org or by calling the Clay Center Box office at 304.561.3570. My favorite tweet seats are available in the second balcony for only $10, so you can live-tweet the show. I know you’ll want to.
