Easter Carnival at the State Capitol

Begin and end Spring Break with Easter egg hunts. Hit the bunny trail on Magic Island and at the Clay Center for the Arts & Sciences April 8. Saturday, April 15, join in the fun at the Easter Carnival at the State Capitol and at the Kanawha City Community Center. The events at Magic Island, the State Capitol and Kanawha City Community Center are free; tickets to the Clay Center event are $9 for adults and $7.50 for children.

Silly Safaris Live Animal Show

Kanawha County Public Library (KCPL) has scheduled two events sure to put a smile on everyone’s faces. The Silly Safaris Live Animal Show is a high-energy and zany theatrical performance complete with an assortment of live animals. Amazon John leads this popular family-friendly performance that takes place at library branches throughout the county April 10-11.

KCPL also is bringing the Spring Break Gaming Extravaganza to local branch libraries. WV Mobile Gaming will set up its state-of-the-art gaming theater, a climate-controlled traveling theater tricked out with four 50" TVs inside and two additional 50" TVs on the outside for maximum fun. Kids can enjoy the latest games on the best gaming systems available, including Xbox One, Wii U, and Playstation 4. The Spring Break Gaming Extravaganza is April 11, 13, 14, and 15. Hit a homerun by taking the family to a West Virginia Power baseball game. The team opens its season April 6 against the Rome Braves for a four-game series. Post-game fireworks are scheduled for Thursday, April 6 and Friday, April 7.

Sunday is Kid's Sunday Funday at Appalachian Park. The gates open at 1 p.m. with a 20-minute outfield catch. After the final out, kids 12 and younger can run the bases, and select Power players will sign autographs.

The Asheville Tourists come to town Monday, April 10 for a three-game series. Monday is Family Buck Night when general admission tickets are $1 and box seats are $3. In addition, $1 hot dogs, popcorn, and 12 oz. sodas are available all evening. Tuesday, April 11 is the season’s first Two for Tuesday. Get two for one concession and drink specials every Tuesday home game this season.
