ArtWalk in CWV

22Apr 2016

Do you like free events? Do enjoy art? Or maybe free appetizers and refreshments? Or how about a leisurely walk down Charleston’s most picturesque block? If you said yes to any of these, ArtWalk is the event for you!

For residents and visitors alike, Art Walk is a time to unwind after a long week or a work day and enjoy the hidden and not so hidden treasures of Charleston. Shops and galleries are open to the public, and people are free to mix and mingle while enjoying refreshments and light appetizers. Oh, and don't forget about the endless bounty of local and regional art!

As you walk from shop to shop you may stumble across something new; a gallery on the second story of a building you walk by every day, or a newly discovered artist where you grab your daily coffee. And most importantly, you will view pieces of art while talking to the people who help the art scene of Charleston, WV flourish.

This 3rd Thursday was like most, the streets were filled with eager shoppers and art lovers, live music was playing in and around shops, WTSQ was pumping out tunes on Quarrier Street across from Art Emporium, and restaurants were bustling with dining patrons. There were also artists doing paintings for strolling “ArtWalkers”, and local artist Ian Bode was even handing out special creations in celebration of Earth Day.

To experience a small piece of the arts in our state, mark your calendar for the next ArtWalk—Thursday, May 19. You never know what you might discover.
